COURSES UNDER INSTITUTE OF DISTANCE AND OPEN LEARNING (IDOL), GAUHATI UNIVERSITY

A study centre of the Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL) under Gauhati University was opened at Kharupetia College. The following courses/programmes are offered through this study centre. 

  • Master Degree Programmes: (Term End Programmes):
M.A in Philosophy. Bodo, Nepali, Master of Communication & Journalism (MCJ). 

  • Master Degree Programmes: (Semester Programmes)
MA. in Assamese, English , Education, Economics, Political Science, M.Sc( IT), MCA, M.Com., History, Mathematics, Bengali, Sanskrit.

  • Post Graduate Diploma Programmes: 
P.G. Diploma in PGDSMM, PGDHRM, PGDBM, PGDFM, PGDIM, PGDBFS, PGDJMC, PGDCA. 

  • Certificate in Computer application (CCA).

  • Undergraduate Professional programmes: 
BCA, B.Sc. IT 

  • Under Graduate Programmes (B.A., B.Com., General Course): 
IDOL( GU), Kharupetia College study centre has also introduced B.A. and B.Com (General) courses under distance mode. 
Students can pursue B.Com and BA (general course) with MIL (Assamese, Alt.Eng),English, Political Science, Education, Philosophy, Economics and History under distance mode. 

The syllabus and the curriculum for the distance mode courses will be the same as those for the regular courses of Gauhati University.

COURSES UNDER KRISHNA KANTA HANDIQUI STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY 

A Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Guwahati has been opened at Kharupetia College from the session 2009-10. The Courses offered by the university are:

  • Diploma Courses
D.EI.Ed.

  • Post Graduate Programmes
M.A. (Assamese, English, Political Science, Education).

CENTRES AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT COURSES RUN BY THE COLLEGE

A. SPOKEN ENGLISH COURSE 

In view of the growing need of acquiring proficiency in communicative English, Kharupetia College introduced Spoken English Course from the Academic Session 2005-2006. Interested students of this college or other institutions may contact course coordinator Mr. Abdul Awal, Asstt. Professor, Deptt. of English for detailed information regarding admission procedure, fee. etc

B. COMPUTER EDUCATION CENTRE: 

With a view to catering to the need of Computer Education, a full fledged Computer Education Center with Internet Facility has been opened at Kharupetia College. This Centre conducts various short term Certificate Courses on payment of requisite fees. Generator facilities are also available in the centre. The Computer Centre is open for the students of  Kharupetia College as well as for outsiders.

C. SOCIO- ECONOMIC STUDY CENTRE: 

A Socio- Economic study centre was set up by the department of Economics in 2004 with a vision to initiate research activities amongst the students and teachers. The centre tries to find out the factors responsible for poor socioeconomic condition of the people of this region through Socio -Economic surveys and thereby to furnish the reports of the surveys with probable suggestions and remedies.
The department of Economics publishes an annual journal named ‘Economica’.
